Marbled Cotton Patterns for Quilts

My first quilts were patchwork patterns and they have always been my favorite form of sewing, connecting fabrics to create a geometric shape. Both abstract collage to intricately pieced log cabins attract my artistic nature. |

Marbling patterns mesmerize, touching some long ago place in my spirit. This feeling happens every time I study my marbled cloth. I am carried back to a place in time of quiet flow and uncensored expression.
Every marbled fabric you see on this site was created by me and then scanned for a digital file. I have also kept as true to the actually color as possible. Notice the aliveness in the not so perfect combing to give each piece a distinctive and decided un-mechancial look.
I desire for my cloth to have a repeating pattern but nothing is exactly alike. Even if I marble numerous background fabrics trying for the same look, there are still no two pieces the same.

As the carrageenan ages with each print made, the paints react differently on the surface. This is the dynamic element when you marble on carrageenan and I love to see the subtle change in how the paint floats and expands on the surface before combing.
In naming the different marbling patterns remember that the marbling books sometimes give different names for the same pattern. Feast your eyes and fill your senses with the beauty of marbling.
